Irish native, Brigid Boden, was trained at the Leinster School of Ballet, Dublin, Ireland and at the Hammond School in Chester, England and is a member of The Royal Academy of Dance.
Brigid began her early career with the Dublin City Ballet, Ireland before moving to The Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York.
Brigid was formally trained in Balanchine technique and danced in New York for several years under the guidance of ballet legends Arthur Mitchell, Karl Shook and Tanaquil Le Clercq.
Brigid eventually became the founder and owner of her own School of Ballet in Ireland, traveling to towns throughout the countryside teaching children who, geographically, did not have the opportunity to take classical ballet. Brigid’s passion to show them the world of dance resulted in Ireland’s thriving interest in ballet, with a number of schools opening in the areas she taught in.
With her knowledge of both RAD and Balanchine technique, Brigid travels the world as a guest teacher and has given master classes at The School of Russian Ballet, Spain; The National Ballet Conservatory, Malta; The Paris Marais Dance School, Paris; and The Pineapple Dance Studios, London.
Brigid has trained dancers who have joined major ballet companies around the world, some of which include:
The Joffrey Ballet
San Francisco Ballet
Dance Theatre of Harlem
Pacific Northwest Ballet
Brigid regularly visits The Royal Ballet School, London, The Dutch National Ballet Academy, Amsterdam, and The School of American Ballet , New York, for class observation.
During the pandemic, Brigid offered live ballet classes on her Instagram account, @learnballetathome, to students from all around the world.
Brigid also wrote, produced, directed and appeared in the highly-acclaimed, educational ballet video for children, ‘Learn Ballet At Home.’
In Los Angeles, Brigid managed the dance department at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, teaching children of all ages from the international French community.
Brigid has been with The Westside School of Ballet, Santa Monica, CA since 2006. As well as teaching all levels of ballet, Brigid produced and developed the pre-pointe syllabus which has become one of their most successful learning programs to date.
Brigid has been with Ballet Conservatory West since 2016 and teaches all levels of ballet, including the pointe and pre-pointe programs.
