Ballet Conservatory West brings the highest quality classical ballet, tap and modern dance training to the Palisades. Classes are offered for students age three through adult in a professional, enthusiastic and nurturing environment with emphasis placed on detail oriented instruction. Instruction in classical ballet is offered one to five times a week, depending on level. Tap classes are offered for students in Pre Ballet II, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels once a week.
Creative Movement & Pre Ballet
The school's Creative Movement and Pre Ballet programs have been purposefully designed for students age 3 through 6 in order to meet the highly specific developmental needs in each of these years. These levels encourage imagination and self expression and focus on coordination, musicality and proper classroom etiquette, with an emphasis on body conditioning for Pre Ballet groups. Creative Movement students meet once per week, for a 45 minute class. Pre Ballet students also meet once per week for a one hour class. (Creative Movement and Pre Ballet students are able to enroll for two classes per week if desired.) For all Creative Movement and Pre Ballet levels, students must be the age listed for each class by August 27th to be eligible to join that class.
Elementary I - Advanced
BCW begins academic ballet in the Elementary I level (students must be 7 years of age by August 27th) and follows students through the advanced level. Instructors follow a uniform, time-tested and recognized ballet syllabus. Clean technique, attention to detail and proper alignment are emphasized throughout the levels. Classes range from one to one and a half hours in length depending on level, and are offered from two to five times a week.
Tap classes are offered to students once a week in Pre Ballet II and all Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels. Each class is one hour in length, and follows a carefully organized syllabus.
The school offers adult ballet classes on Tuesday and Friday mornings, at 10am. Each class is 90 minutes in length. Ballet class is a great way to stay in shape, maintain bone density and improve cardiac functions. Both strength and flexibility are gained, all while enjoying classical music.
